Saligao: a death in our village...

Friday's newspapers carried the advert of the death of a prominent villager, Col Edwin D'Souza (Khot), whom many from Saligao would know as the village dentist who practised at Arrarim in the 'seventies, after retiring from the military. Col Edwin was a good man, with a smile on his face, and very good in dealing with patients. Saligaonet offers its condolences to the family. Below is the text of the advert, along with a photograph of the young colonel in military uniform including a smart cap and his decorations visible on the chest:

DEATH: Col Edwin D'Souza (Khot), Arrarim Saligao Expired peacefully at the age of 91 on February 26, 2006. Beloved husband of Quennie (Vicky), loving father/father-in-law of Venetia/Shaukat (Canada), Rowena/Philip (USA). Cherished grandfather of Vijay/Stephanie, Nadia, Aron, Ravi and Priya. Dear brother of (late) Eric, Elliot and (late) Lou. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral service at Mae de Deus Church, Saligao at 10 am on Saturday, March 4, 2006.
